Happy 4th of July!

I hope you’re having an amazing July 4th celebration that’s full of debauchery and/or family fun! :) A grand way to assure that everyone is happy is to add a little cupcake love into the mix. Try these pretty patriotic ones from Sprinkles, or check out cupcake competitor Crumbs. They’re both delicious and you’ll bring a nice sugar high to the partay!

Chupa Chups gone wild – adult lollipops

chupachupsyum

Do you remember Chupa Chups lollipops? I loved that they tasted like ice cream! I haven’t had them in forever and wasn’t sure that they still existed until I stumbled upon this creative idea. Courtesy of design firm Firma, they have taken the cherished lollipop and turned it into an adult treat. These S+M sweets are just a concept and have not gone into production. But that is one way for a company to create an edgier image, now if only I could find the REAL Chupa Chups.

Dinner for two

Recently, as in Monday, I created a quaint little dinner for two. It was delicious, simple, and elegant. A vegetable stir fry in a large wok coupled with half a package of cooked rice noodles. I added soy sauce and some spices for an Asian flare.

Halloween 044

Oh and I also had some fresh roasted pumpkin seeds on hand courtesy two pumpkins that fulfilled their carving destiny. The seeds only lasted me two days and I’ve been using them as a healthy snack at work. Perhaps, I can get more via all the clearance pumpkins at the store now?

Halloween 038

Thank you glamorous pumpkins.

Fashion cookbook – an oxymoron?

AmericanFashioncookbook

There’s no hearty food on the cover of this cookbook, just two anorexic-esque models who probably haven’t eaten in days. The not-for-profit trade association, The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) requested that many of their noteworthy members contribute to this book with recipes of their own. The American Fashion Cookbook includes everything from appetizers to entrees within its pages. 100 American Designers were asked to contribute including: Isaac Mizrahi, Carolina Herrera, Mark Ecko, Derek Lam, John Varvatos and more. There is even a forward by Martha Stewart. I haven’t seen the book in person yet, it’s actually not on CFDA’s website either, but you can get it via Amazon for $29.50. Apparently food and fashion and go together after all.

Fall weekend

Weekends. Should. Be. Longer. Well this past one was filled with outdoor activities from Runyon Canyon, to Malibu, to Beverly Hills Park for some smash ball action. I kept it chill and even cooked up some pumpkin treats you can read about on Nikki’s blog Simple Travels in My Homeland. I also ventured into the Hollywood Farmer’s Market to get some fresh fruits and veggies. Apparently, that’s where all the fall colors are hiding!
